Here are some simple anger management tips for you to try:
1. Slowly count to ten. OK, this is probably something your mother taught you to do. But that was when you were younger. The good news is, counting to 10 is still good. So long as you don't rush through the numbers as if it was a speed challenge, the pause you'll get is long enough for you to consider how you react.
2. Take some exercise. If your gym has a punch bag, use that. If you're not near a gym, just take any exercise. A short walk or run. Anything to help clear the anger out of your system.
3. Relax and chill out. OK, that could wind you up further in the heat of an anger attack. But if you think it could work for you, give it a go. And if it isn't an option at the moment, discover meditation or some other kind of relaxation technique to help longer term.
4. Play a video game. You can go off to some fantasy land and vent your aggression on a bunch of pixels on a screen.
5. Take a long, deep breath. Another "corny" technique your mom used with you. And another one that works well most all of the time.
6. Don't bottle up your anger. Suppressing your anger is even worse than venting it on other people. Discover methods to safely vent your anger, if at all possible without damaging people or property near you.
7. Keep an anger log. After a few entries in your log, there's a high chance you'll recognize some patterns emerging. You can then work on these to change how you react.
8. Learn to laugh. Out loud, or in your head. Comedians would be out of a job if there wasn't a funny side to things, so it's there, hiding. Learn to laugh instead of blow your top.
9. Don't get angry at yourself. You're only human. Try to learn to tolerate yourself more and stop beating yourself up if you're not always perfect.
